“Well, I think Lenin’s right that everybody should be paid the same amount of money. Given that’s not going to happen, primary school teacher and nurses should be the highest paid people in the culture. The consequence of this, educationally would be that children would be encouraged to go to school only for two reasons. One and the primary one would be for sociability, i.e. to find friends, to see if they can meet people they like and have relationships they love. That’s the only real reason to go to school. Secondarily, they would go to school to see if anything interests them. In other words, they would be offered what the culture has to offer and they would see if anything really captures their imagination. They wouldn’t be going to school in order to become successful. The success story would be totally dropped. It would be entirely about becoming a kind person and becoming an absorbed person, because what capitalism destroys is the capacity for absorption.“
